{"id":78917,"date":"2015-07-23T13:30:33","date_gmt":"2015-07-23T11:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=78917"},"modified":"2015-08-11T13:41:46","modified_gmt":"2015-08-11T11:41:46","slug":"radeon-r9-nano-crushes-the-r9-290x-in-unigine-heaven-benchmark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/78917-radeon-r9-nano-crushes-the-r9-290x-in-unigine-heaven-benchmark","title":{"rendered":"Radeon R9 Nano crushes the R9 290X in Unigine Heaven benchmark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reportedly based on a fully unlocked but slightly downclocked Fiji XT, the same GPU that powers the impressive <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/77870-amds-radeon-r9-fury-x-and-r9-390x-performance-vs-price.html\" target=\"_blank\">Radeon R9 Fury X<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/78652-amds-radeon-r9-nano-the-most-powerful-mini-itx-gpu-yet-launches-in-august.html\" target=\"_blank\">we\u2019ve suspected for some time now<\/a> that AMD\u2019s 6 inch (approximately 15 centimetres) Radeon R9 Nano would be the most powerful mini-ITX GPU around.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to see how any other card of its type could compete with 4096 stream processors, 256 texture units, 64 raster operations pipelines and a 4096-bit memory interface. After all, a bus that wide, in tandem with 4GB of high-bandwidth running at 1 GHZ, means 512GB\/s of bandwidth.<\/p>\n<p>Just for comparison, NVIDIA\u2019s fastest mini-ITX card is based on the GTX 970, a fantastic card to be sure, but only capable of a little under 224GB\/s of bandwidth. It\u2019s no match for the Fiji XT, let\u2019s put it that way.<\/p>\n<p>Now, fortunately, thanks to the Chinese website <a href=\"http:\/\/iyd.kr\/756\" target=\"_blank\">iyd.kr<\/a>, we\u2019ve seen the R9 Nano in the wild, as it\u2019s apparently ready for distribution to its selected partners.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_78923\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/AMDs-Radeon-R9-Nano.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78923\" id=\"caption-attachment-78923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">AMD&#8217;s Radeon R9 Nano<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Many are pinning the R9 Nano\u2019s frequency at between 830 MHz and 900 MHz, as opposed to the Fury X\u2019s 1050 MHz, but the R9 Nano is still going to be a phenomenal performer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wccftech.com\/amd-r9-nano-pictures-unigine-heaven-benchmark\/\">WCCF Tech<\/a> suggests close to see the results, but the gist of it is that the R9 Nano is more than twice as fast as the R9\u00a0290X.<\/p>\n<p>These numbers aren\u2019t to be taken lightly, especially when the Nano scores (according to WCCF Tech) around 26.6 fps in a 4K benchmark.
