Unfortunately, not everyone has the capital to keep up with the shamelessly devouring consumerist world of electronics, nor does everyone wish to.<\/p>\n
Although it’s only inevitable that the previous generation will become inundated and abandoned by developers, the joy and versatile usability of this past generation means a longer shelf life than some may expect.<\/p>\n
In fact, there are still many excellent games and features belonging to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that maintain their value and worth.<\/p>\n
<\/a>Xbox 360 and PS3 Slim.<\/p><\/div>\n
In my humble opinion, the intrinsic quality and exhilaration in games has slightly yet steadily declined with each generation of consoles.<\/p>\n
It seems that ingenuity and fresh, unadulterated stimulation and ideas are becoming rarer and rarer as developers continue to cannibalise previous titles, or even worse, thrash the dead horses of golden age classics.<\/p>\n
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a number of titles for the Xbox 360 or PS3 worth getting, games we guarantee you’ll come to live and may yet convince you to invest in this newest generation.<\/p>\n
<\/a>Uncharted, one of the PS3’s heavyweights.<\/p><\/div>\n
As much as I enjoyed titles like Bloodborne <\/em>and Far Cry 4<\/em>, some of the titles I\u2019ve played on the PS4 and Xbox One have been rather stale and anti-climactic. It is, however, the infant stages of this generation.<\/p>\n So while I have thoroughly enjoyed many titles like Shadow of Mordor<\/em>, Dying Light<\/em> and The Witcher 3, <\/em>which is one of the most immersive and impressive RPGs I have ever played, few of today’s games hold a candle against gems like ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty <\/em>and Snake Eater <\/em>for example, all of which are available for play on the PS3 thanks to the magic of re-releases.<\/p>\n The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection is a delightful treat.<\/p><\/div>\n For the time being one has more options in the previous generation.<\/p>\n There are games like Rockstar’s superb Red Dead Redemption <\/em>and GTA V; the Portal <\/em>& Half-Life 2<\/em> titles; franchises like BioShock<\/em>, Mass Effect<\/em>, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare<\/em>,\u00a0Assassin’s Creed<\/em>, Far Cry<\/em>, Dark Souls<\/em>, the Arkham <\/em>games, the splendid Deus Ex: Human Revolution<\/em> and so much more, all of which are available on both the PS3 as well as Xbox 360.<\/p>\n And what about the exclusives:<\/p>\n Halo 3<\/em> Uncharted 1 <\/em>– 3<\/em> <\/p>\n Dead Rising, one of my favourite Xbox 360 games.<\/p><\/div>\n Although there are several current-gen exclusives one would miss out on for not cashing in on a recession-stimulating box, most titles coming out this year are also coming out on previous-generation consoles.<\/p>\n With the exception of titles like Bloodborne<\/em>, titles like Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain <\/em>and Persona V <\/em>will all come out on the previous-gen consoles.<\/p>\n The incredible Persona series returns with its fifth instalment.<\/p><\/div>\n Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are also great home-entertainment systems, playing Blu-Ray Discs, DVDs, Music CDs and watch TV, as well as Netflix.<\/p>\n The media capabilities alone are almost reason enough to justify all-in-one entertainment systems.<\/p>\n And for those who get an Xbox 360, when you do eventually get an Xbox One, your games will be backwards compatible<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you thought the PS3 got all of the good RPGs, think again.
