The Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition has been revealed by EA, and it’s a beauty.<\/p>\n

Collector’s editions of games are sometimes a bit of a hit and miss affair, but in this case, EA has included one totally freakin’ awesome item.<\/p>\n

You’ve probably already spotted it, yes, that’s right – a replica of Isaac’s plasma cutter, with LED lights substituting for ionized gas particles.<\/p>\n

All versions of the Dead Space 2 Collector’s edition (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) will come with the following:<\/p>\n

Lithographic printing is a method of printing that leaves a completely smooth surface. The printing can be done on a variety of materials, but it is unclear which has been chosen for the Dead Space 2 Collectors edition. We’re hoping they use a nice sheet of metal, such as aluminium.<\/p>\n

PS3 Exclusive<\/strong><\/p>\n

Exclusive to the EU PS3 Collector’s Edition version is Dead Space Extraction with Move compatibility, updated with HD visuals, and the Rivet Gun DLC.<\/p>\n

Now for the bad news. The Plasma Cutter replica will not be accompanying the EU PS3 version of the Collector’s edition. It seems EA is hoping the Dead Space Extraction Move edition will make up for that. This is bad news for South African PS3 gamers as well, because we fall under the EU region umbrella for such things. The North American PS3 version will however be bundled with the Plasma Cutter replica, so this is an altogether strange decision by EA.<\/p>\n

MyGaming contacted EA South Africa for confirmation that the collector’s edition will be arriving on our shores. EA South Africa representative Rehana Hassim confirmed that South Africa will be receiving the PC and Xbox 360 collector’s editions with Plasma Cutter replicas and the PS3 collector’s edition without a Plasma Cutter replica, with a Dead Space Extraction Move edition substitute.<\/p>\n

EA is offering a Dead Space 2 pre-order special which will grant players access to a downloadable copy of Dead Space Ignition. Hassim confirmed that the pre-order Dead Space Ignition codes will be available to South African gamers.<\/p>\n

No pricing information for Dead Space 2 is available internationally or locally at this point. Dead Space 2 is scheduled for release on 25 January 2011.<\/p>\n
