{"id":80729,"date":"2015-08-31T12:00:19","date_gmt":"2015-08-31T10:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=80729"},"modified":"2015-08-31T12:27:20","modified_gmt":"2015-08-31T10:27:20","slug":"xcom-2-delayed-into-2016-now-releasing-february-5th-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/80729-xcom-2-delayed-into-2016-now-releasing-february-5th-2016","title":{"rendered":"XCOM 2 delayed into 2016: now releasing February 5th, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019ve been keeping up to date with <em>XCOM 2<\/em>, you\u2019ll know that there\u2019s a lot to look forward to.<\/p>\n<p>For all of the pros to <em>XCOM: Enemy Unknown<\/em>, and its expansion <em>XCOM: Enemy Within<\/em>, it was a fairly unpolished experience.<\/p>\n<p>Largely a rush job, developed to satisfy the craving for a modern tactical <em>XCOM <\/em>title, Firaxis whipped up a surprisingly addictive and enjoyable tactical RPG.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the rush to get it out to market, <em>XCOM: Enemy Unknown<\/em> lacked a lot of map variety, combat mechanics were a little iffy at the best of times and during missions its narrative was neither here nor there \u2013 <em>XCOM 2<\/em> is addressing virtually every issue we had with <em>XCOM: Enemy Uknown<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s bigger, tougher, smarter and prettier. <em>XCOM 2<\/em> adds a lot more narrative appeal by throwing more cinematics, context, developed characters and plot choices than <em>XCOM<\/em>. It\u2019s also graphically much prettier and allows for a lot more combat variety.<\/p>\n<p>Need an example of why we\u2019re so excited for <em>XCOM 2?<\/em> Just check out the improvements made to base building, maintenance and the role your base has on the game \u2013 it\u2019s quite a difference indeed.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uJ-rTdoiJZU\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Like we said, it\u2019s quite an improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Those additions, however, are taking longer to implement and polish than Firaxis Games initially predicted because <em>XCOM 2<\/em> is being delayed into 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Originally set to release later this year, <em>XCOM 2<\/em> will release on February 5<sup>th<\/sup>, 2016, <a href=\"http:\/\/xcom.com\/news\/en\/xcom-2-now-coming-to-pc-worldwide-on-february-5-2016\" target=\"_blank\">says a message on the XCOM site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hello XCOM fans,<\/p>\n<p>We want to give you an update on the release date for XCOM 2. We\u2019ve set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown. We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game.<\/p>\n<p>With XCOM 2, we want to have more depth, more replayability, and more investment in your soldiers and this extension will give us the time we need to deliver on our promise to you.<\/p>\n<p>We appreciate your patience and continued support as we move towards February.
