{"id":8083,"date":"2010-10-18T13:49:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-18T11:49:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"mr-driller-inconsiderately-welcomes-back-chilean-miners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/8083-mr-driller-inconsiderately-welcomes-back-chilean-miners","title":{"rendered":"Mr. Driller inconsiderately welcomes back Chilean miners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apparently the fine folks at Namco Bandai were just as captivated with the trapped Chilean miner saga as the rest of the world, and seeing as how the story had a happy ending, Namco Bandai decided to welcome the miners back into the world with a small tribute.<\/p>\n<p>The tribute was a render of their video game character Mr. Driller superimposed over the Chilean flag, along with the phrase &ldquo;Welcome back.&rdquo; The picture was posted via the Namco Bandai Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/mr_driller_chile_983290054.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Mr. Driller Chile\" title=\"Mr. Driller Chile\" width=\"340\" height=\"272\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Driller, aka Susumu Hori, son of Dig Dug star Taizo Hori, certainly knows a thing or two about digging his way into tough situations.<\/p>\n<p>The Namco Bandai PR department seemingly had a taste of Mr. Driller&rsquo;s medicine, digging themselves a hole they quickly scrambled to escape from. The company retracted the image over the weekend, saying that it &ldquo;lacked consideration. &#8220;We would like to offer a profound apology to everyone.
