Ubisoft haven’t doing a great job lately. Even on the publishing side, the studio is still releasing games that are broken<\/a> and nowhere is this truer than with Assassin’s Creed Unity<\/em>.<\/p>\n

As it stands, we don’t have much confidence in Ubisoft at this point in time, especially in light of some recent news, like publishing an unpolished Might and Magic Heroes VII<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

With Ubisoft’s consumer confidence in decline, they have just revealed that for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Syndicate <\/em>the game will have microtransactions.<\/p>\n

Microtransactions are not seen favourably by gamers in particularly because when you’re making a full price purchase you expect the experience to not be restricted by pay gates.<\/p>\n

It appears that in the case of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate<\/em>, microtransactions will be more like mini-purchases that will give players the ability to accelerate their progress for a limited time, in order to upgrade their gear quickly.<\/p>\n

Ubisoft’s Francois Pelland explained all of this an interview with IGN<\/a> saying:<\/p>\n

Assassin\u2019s Creed Syndicate<\/em> will include paid options to save time and accelerate progress. The model for Assassin\u2019s Creed Syndicate<\/em> is quite similar to Black Flag<\/em>, allowing players who do not have time to fully explore our huge game world to still be able to eventually acquire the game\u2019s most powerful gear as well as other items. Rest assured, all of AC Syndicate\u2019s<\/em> content is available without paying anything additional and the game has been balanced such that microtransactions are 100% optional.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, other games in the series like Assassin\u2019s Creed IV: Black Flag<\/em> offered similar types of options, where players could spend various amounts of money to\u00a0 upgrade their ships faster and show locations of collectible items on the map.<\/p>\n

It seems that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate<\/em> will be following in the same steps with its microtransactions.<\/p>\n

While Ubisoft doesn’t seem to be anything entirely wrong here, microtransactions have proven to be a bad idea especially with recent examples such as Konami and Metal Gear Sold V: The Phantom Pain<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
