The Sega Genesis, or Sega Mega Drive for us Southern Africans, was a brilliant 16-bit console. And on top of all of its accomplishments, it’s also great for hiding meth… apparently.<\/p>\n
In the most recent news, on September 29th,\u00a0at a\u00a0pawn shop in Moultrie, Georgia, a man attempted to sell a Sega Genesis console.<\/p>\n
However, the seller\u00a0got into some trouble when it was discovered that there was crystal meth inside the game cartridge slot of the 16-bit console. Whether the console was actually functioning became a secondary concern\u00a0following the discovery of the meth.<\/p>\n
When the authorities were informed of the cartridge slot\u00a0full of meth, they proceeded to arrest the seller Jared Fournier.<\/p>\n
Following this, Fournier was taken to Colquitt County Jail to be processed on charges for the\u00a0possession of methamphetamine.<\/p>\n
The store, known as “American Pawn”, notified the authorities about the hidden gems (literally) within the console and assisted in the subsequent drug bust. Local Georgia news station WALB News 10<\/a> proceeded to report on the story.<\/p>\n Sadly at this time, we don’t know whether the 16-bit Sega console was functioning at all. Poor console.<\/p>\n But questions still remains: Is the console part of evidence in this drug bust now? Perhaps it’s a part of the gaming experience?<\/p>\n We can imagine that the retro graphics of the Mega Drive would be that much better while the gamer was cooked on meth, don’t you?<\/p>\n Think of it as the ’90s equivalent of virtual reality.<\/p>\n How Sega can become relevant again<\/a><\/p>\n
