It\u2019s an exciting time, Star Wars Battlefront <\/em>continues to exceed expectations and its beta is right around the corner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As you can imagine, then, we can\u2019t wait to give DICE\u2019s next large-scale combat romp a go. And if you are too, and you just happen to be a part of the PC master race, just be sure your PC has enough memory to support this beast.<\/p>\n

Powered by the mighty Frostbite 3 engine and developed by a team known for pushing graphical boundaries, Star Wars Battlefront<\/em> looks unbelievable, particularly on PC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But EA has just updated the minimum and recommended requirements for the game<\/a>, and there are a few eye-popping hardware requirements indeed.<\/p>\n

Minimum PC System Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n

OS:<\/strong>\u00a064-bit Windows 7 or later
\nProcessor (Intel):<\/strong>\u00a0Intel i3-6300T or equivalent
\nMemory:<\/strong>\u00a08GB RAM
\nHard Drive:<\/strong>\u00a0At least 40 GB of free space
\nGraphics card (NVIDIA):<\/strong>\u00a0nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
\nGraphics card (ATI):<\/strong>\u00a0ATI Radeon HD 7850 2GB
\nDirectX:<\/strong>\u00a011.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
\nOnline Connection Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0512 KBPS or faster Internet connection<\/p>\n

Recommended PC System Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n

It\u2019s the recommended requirements we\u2019re looking at specifically: 16GB of RAM, a GTX 970 or R9\u00a0290 and i5-6600. That\u2019s some serious tech.<\/p>\n

In fact, thanks to the recommended RAM (R1, 711<\/a><\/strong>), CPU (R3, 399<\/a><\/strong>) and GPU (R5, 199<\/a><\/strong> or R4, 915<\/a><\/strong>, depending whether you go NVIDIA or AMD respectively), you\u2019re looking to spend at least R10, 025<\/strong>, or R10, 309<\/strong> for the GeForce route.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s awfully high recommended requirements, and why is EA recommending the likes of the i5-6600? That\u2019s a part of Intel\u2019s new Skylake range<\/a>, which while solid performers means more expensive DDR4 RAM as well as a new LGA1151 motherboard, and previous Intel chips around the same clockspeed as the i5-6600 would work just as well.<\/p>\n

Just as an example, 16GB of DDR3 RAM will only set you back a reasonable R1, 469<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It seems like Intel has persuaded EA to recommend their Skylake processors because we can\u2019t see any other reason for not recommending prior Core CPUs.<\/p>\n

Either way, that\u2019s a lot of recommended compute power, even in the game\u2019s minimum requirements. We bet console owners are smiling from ear to ear; that is until they see Star Wars Battlefront <\/em>at 4k resolution that is.<\/p>\n
