Let\u2019s be honest, we all knew that this was coming from the moment Target leaked that the US would receive a price cut for the PS4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no way Sony Computer Entertainment would announce a price drop for the Americas and leave Europe out in the cold, not unless they wanted a riot on their hands.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s for that reason that we suspected a price cut to Sony\u2019s 8th<\/sup> generation console in South Africa. After all, we\u2019ve been grouped in with the European region for some time now, and just as we suspected, it\u2019s officially happening.<\/p>\n

Announced via press release, the PlayStation 4 is to receive a new recommended retail price of R5, 499.99<\/strong>, a drop of around R500<\/strong>. Keep in mind that this is for the 500GB model of the PS4.<\/p>\n

Jim Ryan, SCEE president and CEO commented that, \u201cWe are delighted to deliver the PS4 system at its best-ever value just in time for the holiday season, making it more accessible to a broader audience in Europe.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this year\u2019s biggest blockbusters and next year\u2019s best exclusives such as UNCHARTED 4: A Thief\u2019s End set to thrill players, there has never been a better time to join the PS4 community. Also, watch out for an amazing range of Ultimate Player Edition Bundles including the 1TB PS4 and some of the biggest games of the year, offering even greater value,<\/em>\u201d said Ryan.<\/p>\n

No mention of a price cut for the 1TB Ultimate Player Edition was made, but we foresee a price cut soon.<\/p>\n
