With\u00a0Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End\u00a0<\/em>having a definite 2016 release<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection\u00a0<\/em>getting us all amped for the final instalment<\/a> in the franchise, the news of microtransactions in\u00a0Uncharted 4<\/em>‘s multiplayer is slightly irksome.<\/p>\n

To be perfectly blunt, we really don’t like microtransactions in our games, be it\u00a0Assassin’s Creed Syndicate<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

But it appears that\u00a0Uncharted 4<\/em>‘s multiplayer will indeed have microtransactions.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0Uncharted 4<\/em>, Naughty Dog doesn’t only want a brilliant singleplayer experience but intends to create an “immersive” multiplayer experience as welll.<\/p>\n

With their reveal at\u00a0Sony\u2019s Paris Games Week press conference, we learnt that in Uncharted 4<\/i>‘s multiplayer you’ll be able to\u00a0spawn NPCs to help you out\u00a0and you can also use\u00a0special artifacts to up your advantage against opponents.<\/p>\n

Recently, Naughty Dog’s\u00a0Robert Cogburn\u00a0spoke with Gamespot about how all of this works, saying:<\/p>\n

Microtransactions will be available at launch, but we\u2019ll have no gameplay items that will be gated through microtransactions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

More positively, you’ll be able to obtain in-game items such as weapons, special items and upgrades using in-game currency.<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0whether these\u00a0items will have a drastic\u00a0effect on gameplay ending up in a pay-to-win scenario is still in question.<\/p>\n

The Uncharted 4<\/i>\u00a0multiplayer beta is happening in December. It’s going to be a testing ground for balancing issues and other elements of the game’s multiplayer, so hopefully we’ll learn more then.<\/p>\n

At this point in time, we can only hope that Uncharted 4<\/i>‘s multiplayer will be balanced. But in reality, who really plays an Uncharted\u00a0<\/i>game for its multiplayer functionality?<\/p>\n
