{"id":83453,"date":"2015-11-13T13:30:08","date_gmt":"2015-11-13T11:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=83453"},"modified":"2015-11-13T13:32:08","modified_gmt":"2015-11-13T11:32:08","slug":"system-shock-3-might-be-a-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/83453-system-shock-3-might-be-a-thing","title":{"rendered":"System Shock 3 might be a thing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Night_Dive_Studios\" target=\"_blank\">Night Dive Studios<\/a>, the studio behind the recent <em>System Shock: Enhanced Edition<\/em> re-release, purchase older (retro) game licenses, give them a new coat of paint and re-release them to modern platforms.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re one of the key driving forces behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gog.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">GoG.com\u2019s<\/a> retro re-release business, had a hand in a good number of games we\u2019ve purchased on the digital distribution platform and do fairly good work for the most part.<\/p>\n<p>But now ambition has struck Night Dive Studios, and they may very well produce a <em>System Shock 3<\/em> as a result.<\/p>\n<p>The initial news came by way of a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NightDiveStudio\/status\/664244609602555904\" target=\"_blank\">tweet<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NightDiveStudio\" target=\"_blank\">Night Dive Studios<\/a> themselves.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It is! We&#39;ll be revealing something soon! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UbuA1Q5Ckb\">https:\/\/t.co\/UbuA1Q5Ckb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Nightdive Studios (@NightdiveStudio) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NightdiveStudio\/status\/664244609602555904?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 11, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s more to this news that just the announcement of a <em>System Shock <\/em>remake, though that\u2019s pretty fantastic news in itself.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3053050\/app-economy\/how-one-company-is-bringing-old-video-games-back-from-the-dead\" target=\"_blank\">Fast Company<\/a>, studio CEO Stephen Kick said that they had, \u201c<em>acquired the full rights to the franchise<\/em>\u201d, and that he as well as the rest of the team is working with the game\u2019s original concept artist, Robert Waters, so that they might best reimagine the world of <em>System Shock<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>However, in the excitement of discussing a grand title like <em>System Shock<\/em>, Night Dive\u2019s head of business development mentioned that there were conversations about a potential <em>System Shock 3<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>To really do another game in that series is going to take resources and time and commitment that we don&#8217;t have, and it&#8217;s really not our core business,<\/em>\u201d said Kuperman.<\/p>\n<p>Even the possibility of a <em>System Shock 3<\/em> has us pretty gosh darn excited. If we hadn\u2019t given it away when discussing CD Projekt RED\u2019s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, we love the science fiction of it all, of a cyberpunk (if a little dystopian) future.<\/p>\n<p><em>System Shock 2<\/em> is one of the best titles we\u2019ve played on PC, period.
