{"id":83965,"date":"2015-11-30T10:30:33","date_gmt":"2015-11-30T08:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=83965"},"modified":"2015-11-30T10:41:09","modified_gmt":"2015-11-30T08:41:09","slug":"radeon-software-crimson-edition-is-burning-out-gpus-hotfix-on-the-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/83965-radeon-software-crimson-edition-is-burning-out-gpus-hotfix-on-the-way","title":{"rendered":"Radeon Software Crimson Edition is burning out GPUs: hotfix on the way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As proponents of modern and proficient software suites, delivering functionality that is sleek, feature-rich and user honed, we were <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/83827-amds-radeon-software-crimson-edition-arrives-and-nvidia-feels-a-disturbance-in-the-force.html\" target=\"_blank\">quick to yell the launch of AMD\u2019s Radeon Software Crimson Edition from the rooftops<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If only their new graphics card software package didn\u2019t burn out the cards of those using it.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because Crimson Edition has reportedly been locking the fan speeds of many a card, ranging from the HD 7000 series to the 3XX cards, at 20%.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t need to point out that at that speed it doesn\u2019t take long for cards already reaching 80 and 90 degrees to burn out.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, modern cards are supposed to throttle themselves to prevent that very thing, but that\u2019s not happening according to a number of unhappy customers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We are aware of low fan speed reports on select GPUs with Radeon Software Crimson Edition. We intend to publish a hotfix on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; AMD Radeon (@AMDRadeon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AMDRadeon\/status\/671058196547706880?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 29, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Hotfix is right.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see above, AMD is clearly aware of the issue with their software suite and plans to address it as soon as possible.
