{"id":84223,"date":"2015-12-07T16:30:01","date_gmt":"2015-12-07T14:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=84223"},"modified":"2015-12-07T16:52:10","modified_gmt":"2015-12-07T14:52:10","slug":"this-the-witcher-3-mod-exchanges-all-combat-with-games-of-gwent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/84223-this-the-witcher-3-mod-exchanges-all-combat-with-games-of-gwent","title":{"rendered":"This The Witcher 3 mod exchanges all combat with games of Gwent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While still in its infancy and in need of work, you\u2019ve got to admit that it\u2019s certainly an interesting idea \u2013 to play through the entire <em>The Witcher 3<\/em> with Gwent as the mode of combat.<\/p>\n<p>Not only does <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nexusmods.com\/witcher3\/mods\/953\/?\" target=\"_blank\">Hearts of Card mod<\/a> grant you more opportunities to play Gwent, an incredibly appealing card game found within <em>The Witcher 3<\/em>, but with it the campaign remains fully playable.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an example of what you can expect:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PPMVQiDv62c\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, Gwent games are initiated the moment the player or an opponent would take damage.<\/p>\n<p>Should you win, all opponents within 30 units are killed, otherwise Geralt is slain.<\/p>\n<p>By allowing you to take on opponents in mass, an interesting strategy is to use your agility to have as many opponents close in on you at once, without suffering a blow.<\/p>\n<p>By doing so, once you finally initiate a Gwent game, you can take down more and more opponents, depending on how many you can corral into a 30 unit radius.<\/p>\n<p>More than that, the mod mitigates some of the seriousness of the <em>The Witcher 3<\/em> and introduces the player to a very different atmosphere in a number of scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Do keep in mind, however, that the mod is nowhere near where it needs to be if it\u2019s going to replace all of <em>The Witcher 3\u2019s<\/em> combat and keep you entertained enough to stick with it.<\/p>\n<p>The mod\u2019s creator is implementing a number of additions and improvements, so that might be something to watch out for:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Roadmap (preliminary)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>0.3 \u2013 Develop tiered loot table for cards. Scale drops based on total level of enemies in duel range. This should decouple this mod from relying on the normal Gwent progression system.<br \/>\n0.4 \u2013 Modify economy to be card focused.
