Let&#8217;s face it, programmers are going to attempt to exploit the console, and in a most recent case it appears one programmer has been successful.<\/p>\n<p>A programmer known as <a href=\"http:\/\/cturt.github.io\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">CTurt<\/a>\u00a0claims to have finally exploited the PS4&#8217;s kernel, resulting in\u00a0RAM\u00a0dumping from other processes.<\/p>\n<p>With this kernel exploit, the PS4 could finally be jailbroken, which means a hacker could bypass the DRM of the PS4 install and run custom software, and even play pirated games.<\/p>\n<p>CTurt shared all of this information via <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CTurtE\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">PS4 kernel exploit finally working! He is now attempting to patch the RAM, as revealed by some of his most recent Tweets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>\nJust broke WebKit process out of a FreeBSD jail (cred-&gt;cr_prison = &amp;prison0). Hoping to make a nice PoC video some time.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CTurt (@CTurtE) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CTurtE\/status\/676165930083307520\">December 13, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Currently, the kernel exploit\u00a0only works on PS4 firmware 1.76 and most PS4 owners are using\u00a0firmware version 3.11.<\/p>\n<p>So, for as much as pirates want the exploit to mean that the PS4 can now play pirated games, this may not be possible at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0kernel access to the system will allow hackers and programmers to analyse the PS4\u2019s system and vulnerabilities more accurately.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think about the possibility of the PS4 being jailbroken?
