Maingear has unveiled its Alpha 34 All-In-One PC at CES 2016 \u2013 the world\u2019s first AIO PC featuring an Intel 8-core extreme edition processor or 18-core Xeon processor.<\/p>\n

The Maingear Alpha 34<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0features a 34-inch curved display with a 3,440 x 1,440 resolution and\u00a0Nvidia\u00a0GeForce GTX Titan X\/AMD Radeon R9 390X graphics cards.<\/p>\n

The Alpha 34 also offers Samsung\u2019s 950 Pro M.2 NVME SSDs<\/a>, with read speeds of up to 2.5GB\/s.<\/p>\n

Additionally, memory options allow for up to 32GB of Kingston DDR4 RAM.<\/p>\n

The Alpha 34 starts at $1,999<\/strong> (R31, 000<\/strong>) for an entry-level model.<\/p>\n

Maingear allow you to customise nearly every aspect of your device, much like Alienware, so there\u2019s a lot of variance between the least and most expensive configurations.<\/p>\n

And because we love to make our wallets sweat, we thought we\u2019d look into the price of the top of the line model.<\/p>\n

With the GTX Titan X<\/a> and 8-core, 16-thread i7-5960X selected, the price starts to skyrocket. Throw in 16GB of Fury X DDR4 memory, two Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SSDs (drives we know to be painfully expensive<\/a>) and a custom paintjob, and you\u2019re looking at just under $7, 100<\/strong> (or approximately R110, 000<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

You may be asking why we don\u2019t select Samsung\u2019s 950 Pro SSD instead, and rightly so.<\/p>\n

Granted, the Samsung 950 Pro is a marvel to behold and almost unparalleled in terms of performance, but its immense read\/write speeds will rarely bear noticeable gains when gaming or during everyday tasks.<\/p>\n

We\u2019d much rather go for a higher capacity drive that yields almost identical results in the real world.<\/p>\n

The larger 1TB capacity also makes them more expensive, and this is about absurdity not practicality.<\/p>\n
