They’re compact and power efficient enough to allow for seven to fit in the chassis of choice, while offering fantastic grunt – each card being able to very nearly match a GTX 980 in performance.

Still, even with the R9 Nano’s at play, the rig drew upwards of 1500 watts; imagine what it’d draw with NVIDIA cards instead.

To provide the power necessary, an EVGA 1600W PSU was chosen. The T2 1600W is 80 Plus Titanium rated, which is about as good as it gets, if a little pricey.

You’re going to pay upwards of R6, 000 whether your preferred online shop is Rebeltech, Wootware or anyone else local.

Not that R6, 000 will even phase you if you’re willing to spend around R86, 000 for the GPUs alone.

For the CPU side of things, no single CPU is going to provide the performance necessary for what is essentially seven separate PCs.

To get around that, a R10, 000 dual-processor motherboard, namely the Asus Z10PE-D8 WS, and two 14-core/28-thread processors were chosen.

And while Intel’s Xeon E5-2697 server processors do not come cheap, they’re about the only CPUs that can handle what comes next.

With the hardware at hand, which also included seven 1TB SSDs and 32GB of Kingston DDR4 RAM per VM (for 256GB in total), you’re going to need a stellar chassis.

The customisable Mercury S8 chassis is one of the few cases capable of supporting the motherboard and all of its components, as well as all of the water cooling components necessary for this build not to melt the moment it’s started up. It also looks pretty badass.

And just by the way, with regards to those water cooling components we mentioned, there’s a couple bespoke water cooling components in this build, so don’t expect to find the tools necessary to do this build at your local retailer.

It also used two pumps as well as two massive radiators.

The result is an exquisite, completely pointless PC that we want more than anything else, desperately.

For a rig that can handle six Unigine benchmarks as well as Crysis 3 60fps running in unison, can you blame us?

You might also enjoy reading

AMD’s R9 Fury X2 is delayed to coincide with VR headsets launch

Intel to reveal a beastly, Skylake-powered NUC: codename Skull Canyon

A peek inside AMD’s all-powerful, ultra-small PC, the Quantum

For a rig that can handle six Unigine benchmarks as well as Crysis 3 at 60fps running in unison, can you blame us for drooling at the mouth?

[7
16851,16855,16847,16853,16849,16845,1969,15397
post-85035","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-hardware","tag-amd-radeon-r9-nano","tag-asus-z10pe-d8-ws","tag-dream-build","tag-evga-t2-1600","tag-intel-xeon-e5-2697","tag-linustechtips","tag-news-2","tag-pc
["GET
