So yeah, what a shocker, etc – the Call of Duty: Black Ops launch managed to push 5.6 million copies of the game in the US and UK, generating a massive $360 million pile of cash for Activision to roll in.<\/p>\n
That makes it officially the biggest entertainment launch in the history of stuff ever.<\/p>\n
That’s also significantly more than previous record-holder Modern Warfare 2’s frankly pathetic 4.7 million sold, $310 million banked.<\/p>\n
“There has never been another entertainment franchise that has set opening day records for two consecutive years and we are on track to outperform last year’s five-day global sales record of $550 million,” says Activision’s Bobby Kotick, presumably sipping liquid gold from a diamond chalice and nibbling braised tiger hors d’oeuvres, via satellite uplink from his moon fortress.<\/p>\n
