A few of you might have picked up from our recent Zen CPU coverage<\/a> that we\u2019re fans of AMD\u2019s latest take on the CPU.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because even if Zen doesn\u2019t perform quite as well as we hope, though AMD\u2019s own reports would suggest they will, it\u2019s more capable competition for Intel, and quite frankly they need a little competition.<\/p>\n

So when can we expect Zen to be available? PC World<\/a> reports that Zen processor architecture will arrive for high-end and enthusiast gaming PCs first at the end of this year.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s according to AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su, who also stated that Zen processors, dubbed Summit Ridge, would sport high core counts as a \u201cre-entry\u201d into the high-performance desktop market, though she\u2019s more than likely referring to just the higher-end CPUs.<\/p>\n
