{"id":86109,"date":"2016-02-10T17:30:21","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T15:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=86109"},"modified":"2016-02-11T11:56:34","modified_gmt":"2016-02-11T09:56:34","slug":"a-malware-going-around-is-targeting-hearthstone-cheaters-and-hackers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/86109-a-malware-going-around-is-targeting-hearthstone-cheaters-and-hackers","title":{"rendered":"A malware going around is targeting Hearthstone cheaters and hackers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Getting VAC banned thanks to hidden but detectable code <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/86025-player-gets-more-than-3000-hackers-banned-from-csgo.html\" target=\"_blank\">buried within <em>CS:GO <\/em>hacks<\/a> is one thing; hiding malware within a <em>Hearthstone<\/em> hack is quite another.<\/p>\n<p>Cyber security firm <a href=\"http:\/\/www.symantec.com\/connect\/blogs\/hearthstone-add-ons-cheating-tools-come-data-stealing-malware\" target=\"_blank\">Symantec<\/a> has discovered a malware, dubbed \u2018Trojan.Coinbitclip\u2019, within a <em>Hearthstone <\/em>hack.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Hearthstone-Hack-Tool-Gold-and-Dust-Generator.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-86115\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-86115\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Hearthstone-Hack-Tool-Gold-and-Dust-Generator.png\" alt=\"Hearthstone Hack Tool - Gold and Dust Generator\" width=\"650\" height=\"516\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hacks like <em>Hearthstone <\/em>Hack Tool v2.1 \u2013 Gold and Dust Generator are designed to generate Gold and Dust in place of players actually demonstrating competence or the desire to legitimately play the game.<\/p>\n<p>While Blizzard makes it a point to ban anyone caught using bots or hacks, many are punished for their dishonest methods via a malware that scours your PC for Bitcoin addresses, replacing them with useless addresses in turn.<\/p>\n<p>The other malware found, most commonly found in deck tracers, gives the distributor of the malware access to your keystrokes, passwords and webcam.<\/p>\n<p>Granted, deck tracers don\u2019t give players that much of an advantage, but they\u2019re still a bit of a grey area \u2013 even if they\u2019re used regularly by professional players streaming on Twitch.<\/p>\n<p>None of this proves any sort of vigilantism. In fact, there\u2019s a good chance the malware is distributed within <em>Hearthstone<\/em> hacks simply because of how popular they are.<\/p>\n<p>Still, are they worth losing privacy or any semblance of cyber security over?
