Yesterday, news broke that once-PlayStation mascot Crash Bandicoot would be making a return in the form of a new PS4 title; however, those umours were quickly shut down (sadly).<\/p>\n
The hullabaloo kicked off when\u00a0NECA Toys director Randy Falk had suggested that Sony may well be looking to bring back the beloved\u00a0anthropomorphic bandicoot.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a lot of stuff going on with Sony.\u00a0Looking at some of their other titles, I see that they\u2019re bringing Crash Bandicoot back,<\/em>\u201d Falk said during an interview at the New York Toy Fair.<\/p>\n However, it turned out that Falk was referring to some fan art he saw, confusing it for official Sony content.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not the case,<\/em>\u201d a rep from NECA\u00a0said. \u201cSomeone has misunderstood a comment he made. Randy saw a faked fan-made image right before he came to the show and said that if the game were coming back, we\u2019d love to do figures.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n NECA are currently producing collectibles for other Sony franchises, including\u00a0LittleBigPlanet<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Uncharted<\/em>, so we can’t really blame people for getting too excited.<\/p>\n Crash Bandicoot<\/em> was one of Naughty Dog\u2019s first breakthrough games on the first PlayStation console back in 1996.<\/p>\n The game spawned many sequels and spin-off titles such as Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back<\/em>, Crash Bandicoot: Warped<\/em>, Crash Team Racing<\/em>, Crash Nitro Kart<\/em>, Crash Bash<\/em> and many more.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, the franchise\u00a0faded into obscurity with some less-than-enjoyable\u00a0entries after the game went multiplatform and development duties shifted to other studios.<\/p>\n Origin Access: \u201cEndless PC gaming for just R48.50 a month\u201d, and kind of worth it<\/a><\/p>\n
