Uncharted 4: A Thief\u2019s End’s\u00a0<\/em>story trailer was released today, giving us thrills, drama and action<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But not all was well with the trailer in question. Ubisoft, developers of the Assassin’s Creed\u00a0<\/em>franchise,\u00a0called out Naughty Dog for using\u00a0Assassin’s Creed\u00a0<\/em>concept art without permission.<\/p>\n

The concept art was from\u00a0Assassin\u2019s Creed IV: Black Flag\u00a0<\/em>and appears as an artwork in the\u00a0Uncharted 4<\/em> trailer.<\/p>\n

But how was this art theft noticed?<\/p>\n

Ubisoft\u2019s Aymar Azaizia took note that Naughty Dog had “borrowed” their art.<\/p>\n

He revealed his stance in a tweet that was then retweeted by the official Assassin\u2019s Creed account, which you can see\u00a0below:<\/p>\n

Another Ubisoft staff member,\u00a0Alex Hutchinson, the director of Assassin\u2019s Creed III<\/em> and Far Cry 4<\/em>,\u00a0had something a little more brutal to say.<\/p>\n

He called\u00a0out Jonathan Cooper, a former Ubisoft employee, who now works at Naughty Dog. Cooper had this to say:<\/p>\n

Ubisoft themselves declined to officially comment about\u00a0Uncharted\u00a0<\/em>4<\/em>‘s story trailer. Naughty Dog, in response, replaced the imagery used within the story trailer with new artwork.<\/p>\n

Eventually, Naughty Dog apologised for what happened<\/a>, saying:<\/p>\n

In our eagerness to get the story trailer out we made a regrettable mistake and didn\u2019t thoroughly vet the art work used for an in game painting. We\u2019ve already updated the trailer. We hold all artistry in high regard and take full responsibility for having allowed this to happen.<\/p>\n

We want to sincerely apologize to everyone at Ubisoft, the Assassin\u2019s Creed team, the original artist, and our fans.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
