It also means enough bandwidth to power two 4K monitors (with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 each) simultaneously.

Beyond that, DisplayPort 1.4 supports other new key features like:

Forward Error Correction – FEC, which overlays the DSC 1.2 transport, addresses the transport error resiliency needed for compressed video transport to external displays.

HDR meta transport – HDR meta transport uses the “secondary data packet” transport inherent in the DisplayPort standard to provide support for the current CTA 861.3 standard, which is useful for DP to HDMI 2.0a protocol conversion, among other examples. It also offers a flexible metadata packet transport to support future dynamic HDR standards.

Expanded audio transport – This spec extension covers capabilities such as 32 audio channels, 1536kHz sample rate, and inclusion of all known audio formats.

DisplayPort will also be available via DisplayPort and USB-C connectors, which will do wonders for the proliferation of the standard.

Source: VESA

On the topic of the latest hardware

USB 3.1, Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 compared: the uses for each

Samsung’s portable 2TB SSD, the T3

Wireless connections 100 times faster than Wi-Fi: Li-Fi

Thanks to Display Stream Compression 1.2, a single DisplayPort 1.4 has the bandwidth to power dual-4K monitors.

[7
11489,14016,17432,17434,1085,17436,1969
post-86718","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-hardware","tag-4k","tag-8k","tag-displayport-1-4","tag-forward-error-correction","tag-hardware-2","tag-hdr-meta-transport","tag-news-2
["GET
