Daybreak has announced<\/strong><\/a> that it has discontinued the development of EverQuest Next.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, as we put together the pieces, we found that it wasn\u2019t fun,” said Daybreak Games.<\/p>\n

The game would have been the first EverQuest MMORPG title in 12 years, preceded by EverQuest I and EverQuest II.<\/p>\n

EverQuest Next has been in development since its announcement in 2013 alongside its related Landmark title, which was planned to precede EverQuest Next’s release.<\/p>\n

The game was proposed as a revolutionary change to the conventional MMORPG model, featuring a voxel-based destructible world in addition to improved iterations of features from EverQuest I and II.<\/p>\n

Landmark was planned to be a collection of tools which would later be implemented into the voxel-based world of EverQuest Next.<\/p>\n

The cancellation of EverQuest Next does not mean the death of Landmark, which is already available in early access through Steam<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Work on Landmark will continue, and the voxel-based sandbox will cost $9.99 when it releases.<\/p>\n
