{"id":87404,"date":"2016-03-22T12:00:31","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T10:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=87404"},"modified":"2016-03-22T16:09:25","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T14:09:25","slug":"quantum-break-isnt-getting-a-resolution-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/87404-quantum-break-isnt-getting-a-resolution-update","title":{"rendered":"Quantum Break isn&#8217;t getting a resolution update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over this weekend, we learned that Remedy&#8217;s highly anticipated game\u00a0<em>Quantum Break\u00a0<\/em>will be running at a resolution of 720p on the Xbox One.<\/p>\n<p>The reasons behind the drop in resolution were investigated in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/articles\/digitalfoundry-2016-hands-on-with-quantum-break\" target=\"_blank\">hands-on done by Digital Foundry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The video below, provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BSg3opLozkw\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Foundry<\/a>, explains exactly what&#8217;s going on with\u00a0<em>Quantum Break<\/em>&#8216;s<em>\u00a0<\/em>resolution on the Xbox One version:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BSg3opLozkw\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Website <a href=\"http:\/\/gamingbolt.com\/quantum-break-wont-receive-a-graphics-update-patch-spencer-and-remedy-comment-on-games-resolution\" target=\"_blank\">Gaming Bolt<\/a> contacted Remedy, the developers behind the game, to confirm what the exact resolution would be for the final product.<\/p>\n<p>Remedy responded to Gaming Bolt\u00a0with the typical &#8220;no comment&#8221; response we&#8217;ve come to expect from many AAA developers.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Xbox fans took to the Twitter to voice their concerns, questioning Microsoft&#8217;s Phil Spencer about why the game was being rendered at a resolution of 720p.<\/p>\n<p>Spencer didn&#8217;t directly comment on\u00a0<em>Quantum Break<\/em>&#8216;s final resolution, but only said the following below in response to fans&#8217; questions:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Axel_Dreams_95\">@Axel_Dreams_95<\/a> I encourage you to try a game before you make any pre-judgements about what makes a game good or bad.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/XboxP3\/status\/711600670046965761\">March 20, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Axel_Dreams_95\">@Axel_Dreams_95<\/a> Thanks for the support in the game. I think you&#8217;ll enjoy it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/XboxP3\/status\/711604771233202176\">March 20, 2016<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, there were\u00a0reports surfacing across the internet that\u00a0the game will receive a day one patch.<\/p>\n<p>These reports claimed that the day one patch could improve\u00a0<em>Quantum Break<\/em>&#8216;s resolution before most Xbox One copies reached gamers&#8217; hands.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, all these rumours were dispelled by Remedy&#8217;s Thomas Puha who said the following on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RiotRMD\/status\/711868748358144000\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fcruzsierra\">@fcruzsierra<\/a> no, we have never said anything like that. There is a title update, mostly bugfixes etc. Reviewers got it last week already.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Thomas Puha (@RiotRMD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RiotRMD\/status\/711868748358144000\">March 21, 2016<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Puha, there will be a day one patch, but it won&#8217;t improve the graphics of the game in any tangible way.<\/p>\n<p>Puha also managed to sidestep any confirmation about the final resolution of the game upon release.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Quantum Break\u00a0<\/em>was meant to be a graphical powerhouse Xbox One release that was going to show off the visual capabilities of Microsoft&#8217;s console.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, the PC port is surpassing the Xbox One version of <em>Quantum Break<\/em>, but even the PC version is limited running at 1080p locked at 30fps, which should also take PC fans by surprise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tell us what you think about this whole fiasco.
