Cybersmart CEO Laurie Fialkov said that the terms “prioritized gaming traffic” and “unshaped services” do not belong in the same sentence.<\/p>\n
Speaking to MyGaming, Fialkov said that all products that use IPC – irrespective of which ISP you are using – should have basically the same experience, assuming the IPC is not full.<\/p>\n
\u201cI find it quite amusing when ISPs say they are “prioritizing” gaming, and in the same sentence say the service is “unshaped”. To prioritize one protocol over another, you have to shape the traffic,\u201d said Fialkov.<\/p>\n
He added that because of the rapid rate at which new games and updates are being delivered to consumers, it is almost impossible to effectively shape or prioritize gaming.<\/p>\n
This is because, in most cases at least, every new game or new update needs a new signature for the shaper.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are throwing away our shapers in the next 3 months. We have already decommissioned one of the six we have, and the rest will follow soon,\u201d said Fialkov.<\/p>\n
He explained that trying to identify games was costing them more than just upgrading the IPC, which promoted the decision to simply get rid of the shaping equipment.<\/p>\n
