AMD has “pre-announced”<\/a> its new line of laptop APU’s – Bristol Ridge.<\/p>\n

The previous Carrizo APU’s were launched in June 2015. Carrizo was based on the Bulldozer module design and focused on notebooks in a 15-35W power range.<\/p>\n

Bristol Ridge’s main advantage over Carrizo is the introduction of a new DDR4 memory controller, allowing for the use of DDR4 RAM and equating to a 10% increase in CPU performance. This will equate to a 50% increase in 2014’s popular Kaveri architecture.<\/p>\n

“We know that consumers want more for their money than ever before \u2013 sharper graphics, faster performance, and longer battery life.<\/p>\n

We have focused on working with key OEM partners to develop outstanding computing platforms that will fully take advantage of the powerful 7th generation AMD APUs,” said Jim Anderson, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Business Group, AMD<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bristol Ridge APUs are comprised of four Bulldozer CPU cores and as many as eight GPU cores.<\/p>\n

AMD is waiting for HP to officially debut the new architecture in its HP Envy x360<\/a> notebook in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

AMD is also expected to launch its new Zen<\/a> desktop CPUs later this year.<\/p>\n
