Gran Turismo 5 is jam packed full of gameplay features, one of which is the ‘B-Spec’ mode. This mode allows players to manage a race from the virtual sidelines, instead of being in the virtual driver’s seat.<\/p>\n

The B-Spec mode is a serious racing sim enthusiast feature, as it can take a long time for a race to progress, a fact MyGaming learned during our time reviewing the game<\/a>.<\/p>\n

B-Spec mode works by allowing players to issue commands to their team’s driver, such as ‘overtake’ and ‘make a pit stop.’ Whilst it may be fun to watch the results of one’s commands, it can also become tedious as the race procession inexorably continues.<\/p>\n

Polyphony Digital’s head honcho and Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has indicated via Twitter<\/a> that they are planning to implement a feature that will allow players to interact with their in-progress B-Spec races (taking place on their PS3) from a web browser. The feature should arrive early next year.<\/p>\n

This actually sounds like a really clever idea. Those who wish to progress in the B-Spec mode will have the freedom to perform other tasks on their computers in-between issuing game commands. Presumably, one could even go mobile, should mobile device web browsers be capable of supporting the feature.<\/p>\n
