That is literally all you need, and this not only comes in handy when recording gameplay, but you can record anything you are doing at any time while using Windows 10.<\/p>\n
If you want to record that match of LoL, just follow this guide to set up the recording, and you are good to go.<\/p>\n
\nBefore you start<\/h3>\n
There are a few things you should test before you get started – you network might not be fast enough to provide a “very high” setting when streaming, thus testing will give you an estimate of what you can stream and record.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\nTo test your network speed, head into the Xbox App>Settings>Game DVR> scroll down to Video Encoding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
The best bet is to keep this between medium and high setting as you will need to firstly stream, and then record that stream, so it might be a bit bandwidth-intensive.<\/p>\n
The best way to know what setting to use will be to test the stream by heading to the Xbox App>Xbox>Connect Xbox One>Test Streaming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
If it comes back that the “very high” setting is supported, then you should be good to go with recording on medium to high.<\/p>\n
Keep in mind that the recording relies heavy on system memory, so you need at least 8GB of RAM to record without an issue.<\/p>\n
\nStart the Stream<\/h3>\n
Now that you have tested everything, boot up your Xbox One and make sure it is up to date and running on the same network as your Windows 10 PC.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\nOpen up the Xbox One app on your PC and connect the Xbox One to the device. Go ahead and click on Start Streaming <\/strong>to begin the process of streaming to your Windows 10 device.<\/p>\n
You can now plug in a controller to your PC, or keep it plugged into your Xbox One.<\/p>\n
Start up a game and play, checking if there are any glitches and frame rate issues. If so, you might need to drop the quality a bit, or move to a LAN connection.<\/p>\n
\nRecord your Gameplay<\/h3>\n
Now\u00a0that you have the most ideal setting selected, it is time to start the recording.<\/p>\n
Press Windows+G<\/strong> to bring up the Gamebar, which is basically the hub for starting and stopping a recording. If you are using an Xbox One controller, then you can access this hub with the controller at the same time.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\nNow click on the record button, which is obviously the red circle. Everything you do from now is being recorded into a video clip which will include sound, mic (if switched on) and video.<\/p>\n
Carry on playing the game as you would, and forget about the recording altogether. When you are happy with your footage, press Windows+G<\/strong> button again, and click on stop.<\/p>\n
All the video recordings which you have made will appear in Videos>Captures.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nTroubleshooting<\/h3>\n
If you are having network issues, try and lower the video encoding quality and the stream quality. Try and find the perfect match between the two settings.<\/p>\n
If Windows 10 keeps telling you “There is nothing to record, play something and try again”, navigate to Settings>System>Storage>This PC>Temporary Files<\/strong> and delete all your temporary files.<\/p>\n
So there you have an easy and free way to record gameplay to your PC from your Xbox One, without worrying about additional hardware and bypassing Xbox One’s mundane recording system.<\/p>\n
