On 10 May, Amazon released Amazon Video Direct (AVD<\/a><\/strong>), a program that will enable video creators to post content to the company\u2019s Video hub.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Posting to this hub means content creators will be able to share their videos with tens of millions of Amazon Prime members across the world.<\/p>\n

Unlike its competitor YouTube, Amazon will allow users to monetise not only through advertisements, but also through royalties, one-off rentals or purchases, and even monthly subscriptions.<\/p>\n

This means struggling streamers who can’t make ends meet through YouTube now have a viable alternative\u00a0revenue stream.<\/p>\n

AVD also plans to reward it’s most popular creators, as starting in June they plan to hand out $1 million each month to the top 100 users.<\/p>\n
