{"id":92461,"date":"2016-05-17T08:37:20","date_gmt":"2016-05-17T06:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=92461"},"modified":"2016-05-17T08:57:57","modified_gmt":"2016-05-17T06:57:57","slug":"massive-xbox-live-price-increase-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/xbox\/92461-massive-xbox-live-price-increase-in-south-africa","title":{"rendered":"Massive Xbox Live price increase in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Xbox Live subscribers will see their monthly subscription increase dramatically from <strong>20 June 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The price of a 1 month Xbox Live Gold subscription will increase from <strong>R50\u00a0<\/strong>to <strong>R159<\/strong>, according to emails received by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/817802-Xbox-Live-Price-increase\" target=\"_blank\">Xbox Live subscribers<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The 12 month subscription for Xbox Live Gold in South Africa will increase from <strong>R590<\/strong>\u00a0to <strong>R979<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The US pricing for an Xbox live Gold 12 month subscription is <strong>$59.99<\/strong>, which equates to <strong>R936<\/strong>\u00a0at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa is not the only country affected by this massive price hike, as <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/b\/news\/archive\/2016\/05\/16\/xbox-live-pricing-going-up-in-six-countries.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">five other countries<\/a><\/strong> are also experiencing subscription cost increases &#8211; although South Africa is the most heavily\u00a0affected, with a price increase of 218%.<\/p>\n<p>Below is an excerpt from the email\u00a0sent\u00a0to South African Xbox Live Gold subscribers:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As of June 20, 2016 the price of your 1 month Xbox Live Gold subscription will increase from <b>R 50,00 to R 159,00<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If your subscription is currently set to auto-renew before June 20, 2016, you will be charged the current price at the time of your next scheduled auto-renewal.
