The ones you never even think to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/how-do-i-know-when-to-upgrade-my-pc-or-just-build-a-new-1571878154\" target=\"_blank\">upgrade<\/a><\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Check out the full list below:<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Power Supplies<\/h3>\n<p>The standards for PSUs has not really changed over the last 6-8 years (since the introduction of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Power_supply_unit_%28computer%29\" target=\"_blank\"><span id=\"ATX12V_standard\" class=\"mw-headline\">ATX12V standard<\/span><\/a><\/strong><span id=\"ATX12V_standard\" class=\"mw-headline\">)<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>While more power-intensive components may have required you to bump up the wattage to a larger PSU, chances are a 550W or bigger power-supply you bought in 2008 is just as worthy of your glorious gaming PC as one bought straight off the shelf.<\/p>\n<p>While we wouldn&#8217;t recommend buying a 2008 supply due to deterioration issues, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomshardware.com\/answers\/id-2322460\/power-supply-lifespan.html\" target=\"_blank\">most<\/a><\/strong> can last between <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/civis\/viewtopic.php?f=7&amp;t=1197285\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>4 and 5 years<\/strong><\/a> before any noticeable difference in performance occurs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30376\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header.jpg\" alt=\"PSU Header\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-80x45.jpg 80w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-100x56.jpg 100w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-170x96.jpg 170w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-297x167.jpg 297w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-530x298.jpg 530w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-625x351.jpg 625w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PSU-Header-250x140.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Sound Cards<\/h3>\n<p>Yes, sound cards are still a thing, even if you haven&#8217;t heard them in hardware conversation since the late 90s.<\/p>\n<p>While most would argue onboard audio is enough, serious audiophiles realise the importance of having a dedicated sound card.<\/p>\n<p>Sound cards have actually got progressively <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sound_card\" target=\"_blank\">worse <\/a><\/strong>since their heyday, as many of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.newtek.com\/showthread.php?149605-iVGA-Pro-and-Audio-Loopback-on-Windows\" target=\"_blank\">newer cards<\/a><\/strong> don&#8217;t have the audio loopback device commonly called &#8220;Stereo Mix&#8221;\/&#8221;Wave out mix&#8221;\/&#8221;Mono Mix&#8221;\/&#8221;What U Hear&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Sound-Card.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-92501\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Sound-Card.jpg\" alt=\"Unicode\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1650\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Sound-Card.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Sound-Card-768x634.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Optical drives (DVD, Bluray, Other)<\/h3>\n<p>This one is quite obvious.
