{"id":9273,"date":"2011-01-07T11:13:00","date_gmt":"2011-01-07T09:13:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"sony-looking-into-ps3-hack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/playstation\/9273-sony-looking-into-ps3-hack","title":{"rendered":"Sony \u201clooking into\u201d PS3 hack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over a week on, Sony has finally come out and made an official acknowledgement regarding hacker collective <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/ps3\/9231-The-PS3-hacked-once-again.html\" target=\"_self\" title=\"fail0verflow&rsquo;s much-publicised PS3 security key hack\">fail0verflow&rsquo;s much-publicised PS3 security key hack<\/a>. I guess that&rsquo;s how long it takes to organise a firing squad for the Sony anti-piracy department.<\/p>\n<p>In a rather terse statement issued to <a href=\" http:\/\/www.next-gen.biz\/news\/sony-responds-to-ps3-hacks\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Edge\">Edge<\/a>, the company said only that, &ldquo;We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it. We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>However, according to fail0verflow, that&rsquo;s simply not possible. In an interview with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-12116051\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"BBC\">BBC<\/a>, fail0verflow member pytey claimed that, &#8220;The complete console is compromised &#8211; there is no recovery from this. This is as bad as it gets &#8211; someone is getting into serious trouble at Sony right now. The only way to fix this is to issue new hardware.
