{"id":9307,"date":"2011-01-10T12:29:00","date_gmt":"2011-01-10T10:29:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"official-kinect-support-coming-to-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/9307-official-kinect-support-coming-to-pc","title":{"rendered":"Official Kinect support coming to PC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Modders have had PCs and Kinect playing together nicely since a day or two after the motion controller&rsquo;s launch in November 2010, but it&rsquo;s all still kind of unofficial.<\/p>\n<p>Talking to the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/programmes\/click_online\/9348265.stm\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"BBC\">BBC<\/a> during CES last week, Microsoft&rsquo;s Steve Ballmer has confirmed that official support will be coming to PC at some point. Currently, it would appear to be rather stupid not to implement PC Kinect support &ndash; especially with Asus introducing a market competitor with the inscrutably-named <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/9215-PrimeSense-and-Asus-launch-Kinect-type-device-for.html\" target=\"_self\" title=\"PrimeSense and Asus to launch Kinect-type device for PC\">WAVI Xtion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&rsquo;ll support that in a formal way, in the right time,&#8221; Ballmer told the BBC. &#8220;When we have an announcement to make, we&rsquo;ll make it. We certainly started out with Xbox, very focused on gaming. We&rsquo;re trying to do two major things. We&rsquo;re trying to move beyond gaming and include the world of socialisation, TV, movies, music.
