EDGE magazine<\/a> recently published a feature containing some updates on the gameplay of Uncharted 3. As has become the way of the Internet, the information was speedily digitised and redistributed. Take a look at the previous information revealed regarding Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Story<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Nathan Drake is heading to the lost city of Ubar, an Arabian trade capital, also known as the Iram of the Pillars. The region has been romanticised by Arabian folklore – the fabulous wealth of the city suffered the brunt of God’s wrath due to its inherent corruption. The city was driven beneath the sands of the Rub’ al-Khali desert.<\/p>\n

This is an expedition that Nathan Drake can’t resist. Luckily his supposed ancestor Sir Francis Drake has left a breadcrumb trail for Nathan to follow. Nathan will also cross the path of another legend, Lawrence of Arabia.<\/p>\n

Uncharted 3 won’t feature PlayStation Move support<\/strong><\/p>\n

Christophe Balestra, Co-President at Naughty Dog, explains: “A great Move game is a game made around Move and we started Uncharted long before that. It would be very difficult for us to adjust it. We tried a couple of things but it wasn’t making a lot of sense.”<\/p>\n

Crazy situations, interesting scenarios promised<\/strong><\/p>\n

Evan Wells, Co-President at Naughty Dog said “we have some very interesting scenarios lined up in Uncharted 3. Drake is certianly going to find himself in some crazy situations, but we’re also going to have important breaks in action that will give the players the chance to catch their breath and get prepared for whatever’s coming next. We’ve gto a pretty wide narrative plan, and don’t want to become too predictable.”<\/p>\n

That doesn’t really tell us much, but we’ll give Naughty Dog the benefit of the doubt on this one since they have done so well with the series so far. The only gameplay footage Naughty Dog has released to the public so far is that of Nathan fighting his way through a burning chateau – sufficiently entertaining.<\/p>\n

Sand in your boots<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some great visual effects in the sandy landscapes are promised by Naughty dog. “Sand in all its forms, drifting across the dunes, blowing over the ridges, displacing as you walk through it; sandstorms, mirages, heat hazes,” describes creative director Amy Hennig.<\/p>\n

“Drake will be adventuring through several environments that are nearby and even in the desert, but aren’t what would be traditionally thought of as a desert,” adds Wells. “There’ll be quite a bit of globetrotting through areas that aren’t even remotely sandy.”<\/p>\n

Drake’s relationships<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Females characters are an important part of the pulp genre and you can count on Dreake being tangled up in some new and interesting ways with the women he comes across,” said Wells.<\/p>\n

“However, the most important relationship is the one between Drake and Sully. We want to explain more about how they wound up in the father\/son-like relationship they have and exactly how far that bond extends,” Wells continues.<\/p>\n

Not the end for Nathan Drake<\/strong><\/p>\n

In case gamers were worried that Uncharted 3 would be the final in the series, game director Justin Richmond hint’s that Naughty Dog isn’t ready to leave their main man behind. “We feel we’re not done with Drake yet; we haven’t done all we wanted to do, and there are still technical hurdles and goals we want to get over, and do even more stuff in gameplay. We’re very cogniscent of the legacy of what Drake is, and that every game should advance the story and the genre.”<\/p>\n
