Whether you’re playing on console or PC, chances are you’ve come across the first-person shooter genre.<\/p>\n

The FPS genre is fiercely competitive and lends itself well to online or local multiplayer, as the gameplay is simple but addictive. We’ve compiled a list of the ten best first-person shooters ever made.<\/p>\n

These titles are sorted by the GameRankings<\/strong> rating, although they do also include Metacritic<\/strong> ratings. This is because GameRankings provides an accurate measurement of games developed before the year 2000, while Metacritic becomes unreliable when rating older games.<\/p>\n

Only titles that focus on core shooter gameplay were included – for example, Bioshock\u00a0would\u00a0not qualify for the list, but Counter-Strike: Global Offensive would.<\/p>\n
