{"id":93617,"date":"2016-06-02T12:06:20","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T10:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=93617"},"modified":"2016-06-02T12:07:23","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T10:07:23","slug":"windows-10-is-now-the-most-popular-operating-system-among-pc-gamers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/93617-windows-10-is-now-the-most-popular-operating-system-among-pc-gamers","title":{"rendered":"Windows 10 is now the most popular operating system among PC gamers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Windows 10 is now the most popular operating system among Steam users, according to Valve&#8217;s latest <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/hwsurvey\" target=\"_blank\">Hardware and Software Survey<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Steam is the by far the most popular PC gaming platform, and it is fair to say that it represents a good\u00a0sample of PC gamers around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Support for the latest operating system from Microsoft has been rapidly growing, with Windows 10 gamers recently overtaking those still using Windows 7.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Windows 7 was the most popular operating system among Steam users, with Windows 8.1 trailing far behind.<\/p>\n<p>Here is Steam\u2019s operating system market share list for May 2016:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Windows 10 &#8211; 41.48%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Windows 7 &#8211; 38.60%<\/li>\n<li>Windows 8.1 &#8211; 11.45%<\/li>\n<li>Windows 8 &#8211; 1.62%<\/li>\n<li>Windows Vista 0.31%<\/li>\n<li>Windows XP 1.90%<\/li>\n<li>MAC OSX &#8211; 3.60%<\/li>\n<li>Linux &#8211; 0.64%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Windows 10 has been steadily growing, and may reach 50% Steam market share fairly soon.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft Windows\u00a0remains the dominant operating system among gamers, with over 95% of Steam users using a Windows operating system.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Do you have\u00a0Windows 7 or Windows 10 installed on your gaming PC?
