Ever wondered why all of your favourite Game of Thrones characters seem to die?<\/p>\n

Author George R.R. Martin recently spoke out as to why so many of his protagonists met with a grisly end.<\/p>\n

A writer, even a fantasy writer, has an obligation to tell the truth and the truth is, as we say in Game of Thrones, all men must die,\u201d he told Galaxy\u2019s Edge Magazine<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cParticularly if you\u2019re writing about war, which is certainly a central subject in Game of Thrones.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cWe\u2019ve all read this story a million times when a bunch of heroes set out on an\u00a0adventure and it\u2019s the hero and his best friend and his girlfriend and they go through amazing hair-raising adventures and none of them die.\u00a0The only ones who die are extras.”<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t get to live forever just because you are a cute kid or the hero\u2019s best friend or the hero. Sometimes the hero dies, at least in my books.\u201d<\/p>\n
