Intel has\u00a0announced <\/a><\/strong>its newest Broadwell-EX series of processors, the\u00a0Xeon E7-8800 and E7-880.<\/p>\n

The new chips feature an additional QPI<\/a><\/strong> lane to increase scalability, an increase to the LLC<\/a><\/strong> (Last Level Cache) to 60 MB and a core count 0f 24 physical cores (an improvement\u00a0over\u00a0the previous maximum of 18).<\/p>\n

These minor improvements are a result of Intel’s strategy of offering more and more features as yearly hardware gains begin <\/a><\/strong>to decrease.<\/p>\n

The chips are primarily aimed at compute-intensive workloads, such as real-time analytics, in-memory databases, and online transaction processing.<\/p>\n

The processors are currently available worldwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n
