Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo series creator and Polyphony Digital head honcho, has confirmed that GT5 will be receiving its missing feature ‘Gran Turismo Anywhere’ (aka ‘Remote Races’) sometime in early February.<\/p>\n

The feature will allow players to issue limited commands to B-Spec races taking place on their PlayStation 3 via web browser, or web-enabled mobile device.<\/p>\n

The B-Spec mode is a serious racing sim enthusiast feature, as it can take a long time for a race to progress, a fact MyGaming learned during our time reviewing the game<\/a>.<\/p>\n

B-Spec mode works by allowing players to issue commands to their team’s driver, such as ‘overtake’ and ‘make a pit stop.’ Whilst it may be fun to watch the results of one’s commands, it can also become tedious as the race procession inexorably continues.<\/p>\n

Official details are sketchy, but there are rumours doing the rounds. The PS3 will have to be on and running a B-Spec game (obviously) and the feature does not allow players to complete regular B-Spec races. They will only be able to level up their drivers and the race will not count towards B-Spec rank. Speculation is also rife that this heralds an inbound GT5 patch for early February.<\/p>\n

While it may be limited, the feature does at least allow die-hard GT5 fans to level their driver whilst performing other tasks on their computers in-between issuing game commands, and perhaps even allows them to go mobile with a web-enabled device such as a smartphone.<\/p>\n
