Porn has played a massive part in the adoption <\/a><\/strong>of new technology over the last few decades.<\/p>\n

The first big innovation came with the invention of the VCR. Rather than having to sneak off to the dirty store around the corner or “that” cinema, people could now enjoy adult entertainment in the confines of their own home.<\/p>\n

“Without porn, there\u2019s a very good chance that the VCR might never have taken of”, says <\/a><\/strong>Patchen Barss, the author of The Erotic Engine<\/a><\/strong>, a book that chronicles the history of pornography\u2019s effects on mass communication.<\/p>\n

The same principles applied to the rise of cable television (DSTV in South Africa), as viewers could tune in to adult-oriented material that didn’t have to abide by the same broadcasting rules as those channels running free-to-air.<\/p>\n

YouTube and Twitch wouldn’t exist without porn either – the first ever workable Internet-streaming site was\u00a0developed by Dutch company Red Light District.<\/p>\n

The trend continues today, as the adult-industry was quick to jump on the virtual reality trend, with news <\/a><\/strong>that several companies would even be taking to the E3 show floor to demonstrate new adult-focused products.<\/p>\n

Haptic feedback – technology <\/a><\/strong>that helps recreate the sense of touch has obvious implications, and so the list continues.<\/p>\n

At this point, nobody knows exactly what the future of technology holds, but chances are you can probably use it to help you watch porn.<\/p>\n
