South Africa’s youth have rated WhatsApp as the coolest app and social media platform in the 12th annual Sunday Times Generation Next youth survey.<\/p>\n

Where\u00a0apps like Twitter, BlackBerry Messenger, and MXit lost favour among South Africa\u2019s youth, WhatsApp\u2019s cool could not be\u00a0contained.<\/p>\n

Times Media said it polled the\u00a0opinions of 5,500 young urban South Africans (aged 8\u201322) to establish which brands are \u201cthe coolest of the cool in 2016\u201d.<\/p>\n

Overall coolest brand was awarded to Nike, with Samsung, Apple, and Xbox<\/a><\/strong> making an appearance in the top 10. Samsung also won in the categories for coolest cellphone and computer brand.<\/p>\n
