4 biggest announcements from Apple&#8217;s WWDC conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apple held its\u00a0WWDC 2016 conference on 13 June, bringing with it a number of new additions to their iOS platforms.<\/p>\n<p>These are the 4 biggest announcements from the event:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Apple unveils iOS 10<\/h3>\n<p>iOS 10 will come with several new features, including updates to the lock screen, 3D Touch, Siri, and Photos.<\/p>\n<p>iPhone 6s users with iOS 10 will be able to interact with notifications from the lock screen using 3D Touch.<\/p>\n<p>By pressing and applying pressure to a notification, you will be able to reply to messages without leaving the lock screen.<\/p>\n<p>You can access the camera by swiping right from the lock screen, and app widgets by swiping left.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/iOS-10-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-95169\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/iOS-10-1.jpg\" alt=\"iOS 10\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">OS X is now macOS<\/h3>\n<p>Apple has confirmed at its 2016\u00a0Developer Conference that it will rename OS X to macOS.<\/p>\n<p>The new version of the operating system will be called macOS Sierra.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a name change, Apple\u2019s Craig Federighi announced a number of new features for the operating system.<\/p>\n<p>These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Auto Unlock<\/strong>: if you are wearing an Apple Watch, you do not have to enter your password.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Universal Clipboard<\/strong>: the next Continuity update \u2013 copy and paste will work across all Apple devices.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Apple Pay:<\/strong>\u00a0when you shop online, you\u2019ll see a Pay With Apple Pay button, and you can authenticate your purchase with TouchID or Apple Watch via Continuity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tabs:<\/strong> all multi-window apps will automatically receive support for tabs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Picture-in-picture:<\/strong> videos may be placed in a resizable height=\"430\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Apple TV gets new iPhone remote control app and live channels<\/h3>\n<p>The company showed off an updated iPhone remote app, which lets your iPhone work as a Siri-enabled remote control.<\/p>\n<p>Siri\u2019s universal search now also covers YouTube videos, a feature which will form part of the upcoming tvOS update.<\/p>\n<p>Apple also announced a Single Sign-On function, which lets users enter a single set of login credentials to access multiple broadcasting apps from companies like HBO, ESPN, and NBC.<\/p>\n<p>The new tvOS will also feature\u00a0Live Tune-in, which lets users watch live programming from\u00a0networks like\u00a0ESPN and Disney.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Apple-TV.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-95175\" drastically improve performance<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cOur top focus is performance, which we\u2019ve improved across the entire system,\u201d said Apple\u2019s Kevin Lynch.<\/p>\n<p>Apps will launch up to seven times faster compared to watchOS 2, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Lynch said that apps should respond instantly, and to achieve that, Apple did the following things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep favourite apps in memory<\/li>\n<li>Background updates<\/li>\n<li>Refreshed information<\/li>\n<li>Instant Launch feature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a
