The recent internet outage that occurred throughout\u00a0a large part of Europe\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>was\u00a0caused by a single person, reports TechforSeed<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The outage, which also affected several services like WhatsApp, Facebook, Slack, Reddit and CloudFlare, can be attributed to a single engineer working at Sweden-based web infrastructure company TeliaSonera.<\/p>\n

As the downside was affecting a really massive chunk of individuals worldwide, it had been assumed that it was because of some damage or cut in some transatlantic cable.<\/p>\n

However, as it turned out, the matter was caused because of an engineer\u2019s very little mistake. Apparently, he misconfigured a vital router and directed all Europe\u2019s web traffic to Hong Kong.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Those who were affected by the outage, including Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince, are still unhappy with TeliaSonera, calling the outage “unacceptable”.<\/p>\n
