The US Customs and Border Protection have entered a new proposal<\/a><\/strong> into the federal register in a bid to allow persons entering the country to declare their various social media accounts and screen names.<\/p>\n

In addition to the traditional mandatory personal details, a new optional data field is included, prompting visitors to “please enter information associated with your online presence”.<\/p>\n

This is then followed by open fields for specific platforms and screen names.<\/p>\n

The information wouldn\u2019t be mandatory, reports The Verge<\/a>,<\/strong> but the proposed field would still provide customs officials with an unprecedented window into the online life of travelers.<\/p>\n
