This initiative marks the first time that PlayStation content is available on an open operating system.<\/p>\n<p>Android 2.3 is required.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/9675-PSP2-officially-announced-details-revealed.html\" target=\"_blank\">announcement<\/a> of the PSP2 came news of the PlayStation phone, which is actually an Android-based Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (headline picture). The Xperia Play comes with a slide-out gamepad styled after the trademark PlayStation controller. There is a touch sensitive pad that emulates the use of twin analog sticks. The Xperia play has a 10-centimetre screen and is powered by a 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 CPU, an Adreno 205 GPU, 512MB RAM, and 1GB ROM. <\/p>\n<p>Sony marks this as a vigourous push into the booming mobile gaming market, and notes that it will provide developers with a broader audience. <\/p>\n<p>SCE will commence a &ldquo;PlayStation&reg;Certified&rdquo; license program for hardware manufacturers.&nbsp; Through this program, SCE will offer development support as well as logo licensing, to ensure the delivery of a &ldquo;PlayStation quality experience across various devices.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>On the software front, SCE plans to provide PS Suite content within the calendar year of 2011, starting with original PlayStation games (PS one classics).
