Englishman James Newman has spent \u00a340,000 (R764,000)<\/strong> on a room-sized Megaprocessor that plays Tetris, reports the BBC<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Newman started work on the “Megaprocessor”, which is 33ft (10m) wide and 6ft (2m) high, in 2012.”<\/p>\n

Rather than being a massive computing powerhouse however, it does the job of a chip-sized microprocessor, and is likely to be less powerful than your laptop.<\/p>\n

So why is it so expensive?<\/p>\n

It contains 40,000 transistors, 10,000 LED lights and it weighs around half a tonne (500kg).<\/p>\n

Mr Newman, a digital electronics engineer, started the project because he was learning about transistors and wanted to visualise how a microprocessor worked. The components all light up as the huge device carries out a task.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Even Tetris can be difficult to play, but Newman hopes the Megaprocessor can be used as an educational tool.<\/p>\n
