Last week, an American company challenged Japan to a giant robot duel – and now Japan has accepted, reports The Mirror<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The American dual-pilot Megabot<\/strong> is over 5 metres high and can can shoot paint balls the size of cannon balls at over 190 KM\/h<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fighting for Japan is Suidobashi Heavy Industry\u2019s Kuratas <\/strong>robot, the 500kg mech suit that sold earlier this year for a cool $1 million.<\/p>\n

It takes just one pilot, who is treated to a vastly more high-tech augmented reality heads-up display in the cockpit, including an automated target acquisition and tracking interface that keeps its guns trained on an opponent.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Kuratas\u00a0sports\u00a0twin Gatling BB cannons<\/strong> that can fire 6,000 BB pellets per minute, reports Gizmag<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“You have a giant robot, we have a giant robot \u2013 we have a duty to the science fiction lovers of this world to fight them to the death.”<\/p>\n

The teams each had 12 months to prepare and set out the rules of engagement so expect the battle to take place sometime in the next six months.<\/p>\n
