The existence of a bigger, more powerful Polaris 10 card was confirmed after a recent list of upcoming graphics cards appeared <\/a><\/strong>on AMD’s website.<\/p>\n

Speculation has arisen regarding the nature of the Radeon RX 490 GPU Polaris graphics card, with WCCFTech <\/a><\/strong>reporting that the device\u00a0will be a dual-GPU 4K Ready graphics card<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to shipping data, the RX 490 is based on the Polaris 10 architecture and will be the biggest graphics card\u00a0manufactured using the 14nm FinFet manufacturing process.<\/p>\n

Zauba\u00a0shipping data labels the Radeon RX 490 as a Polaris card, despite rumours that the GPU will be the flagship Vega product.<\/p>\n

Based on the insurance data given, the Radeon RX 490 (labelled as a C99 board<\/strong> in shipping) has an insurance value double that of the Radeon RX 480<\/strong>, signifying a giant leap in value, and presumably\u00a0performance.<\/p>\n

This insurance data for the Radeon RX 490 is roughly equal to that of the Radeon Pro Duo<\/strong>, an existing AMD dual-GPU board.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the Radeon RX 490 board passed certification before Vega was near completion, confirming that the RX 490 will be\u00a0a Polaris board.<\/p>\n

However, the Radeon RX 480 features the full Polaris chip, leading to the conclusion that the RX 490 will be a dual-GPU Polaris board boasting performance comparative to that of Nvidia’s\u00a0GeForce GTX 1080<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to AMD’s benchmarks, two Radeon RX 480 cards in a Crossfire configuration are faster than a GeForce GTX 1080<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This means that a dual-GPU Radeon RX 490 could be more powerful than Nvidia’s flagship Pascal card.<\/p>\n
