ASUS has confirmed that there will be computer and hardware price hikes within the next three months, according to a report by the Register<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This is due to the weakening Pound to Dollar exchange following the Brexit vote.<\/p>\n

It was primarily Japanese and other Asian manufacturers who were the worst affected, as American rivals Dell<\/strong> and HP<\/strong> Inc<\/strong> were quicker to react to the currency swings.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately we are unable to continue to sustain the losses caused by a weaker pound any further, and therefore have no choice to but increase the cost of goods to our partners in line with the value of the pound.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will affect majority of goods shipping from our factory for delivery in Q4 2016. We anticipate this impacting end-customers with an increase on the SRP of around nine per cent on our devices from October onwards.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is currently no confirmation as to how these price hikes will affect South Africa, but as we are considered a European territory some fluctuations are expected.<\/p>\n

In 2015, South Africa imported <\/a><\/strong>over $185 million<\/strong> worth of electronic equipment from\u00a0the UK.<\/p>\n
