A limited edition bundle of Xbox 360 hardware and the upcoming FPS Homefront has been announced. A representative from the Microsoft SA Xbox 360 team has confirmed with MyGaming that this bundle will be reaching our shores.
Homefront is a new IP from THQ, under the developmental stewardship of Kaos Studios (and Digital Extremes on the PC version). The game is a near-future, post-peak oil, predictive history FPS in which the American empire is in decline, and North Korea has radicalised and built a strong alliance throughout east Asia. The United States collapses, and the Greater Korean Republic invades.

The release date for Homefront has been bounced around quite a bit recently, but now local Homefront distributor Ster Kinekor has confirmed with MyGaming that the official date for the game’s release is Friday 18 March 2011. This is of course barring any further delay decisions by publisher THQ.
Contained within the Homefront Xbox 360 bundle will be a 250GB Xbox 360 console, one controller, and of course, the Homefront game. Microsoft SA indicated a recommended retail price of R3499. The bundle is scheduled to hit retail on an approximate date of 22 March 2011, a few days after the game’s official launch. While unwilling to give an exact figure on the units shipping to SA, a Microsoft SA representative said “I feel we have an adequate amount of stock to fulfil the demand.”

Microsoft has also secured a deal for timed-exclusive content for Homefront on the Xbox 360, meaning that all future DLC will be available on their platform first, for a limited time. The Xbox 360 version will also receive exclusive access to the Suburbs multiplayer map.
Just in case the PC gamers are feeling left out, MyGaming has previously reported on the PC specific features of Homefront (along with DRM), as well as the Homefront PC system requirements.

About Homefront
It’s the year 2027, and a resurgent North Korea has invaded the United States of America. The North Korean army–a force numbering in the millions and backed by the world’s most advanced weaponry–has taken over the West Coast and, by deliberately irradiating the Mississippi with nuclear waste, has created a gigantic radioactive strip across the middle of the nation, making it impossible for the enfeebled and disorganised US Army to muster a decent counterattack from the East Coast.

Millions of Americans are left to fend for themselves, forced to live in sheltered communities that are heavily camouflaged from spying North Korean patrols. The only hope comes from a small but dedicated group of resistance fighters who have banded together to retake the nation, one town at a time.
